off with Wendy's, long live Burger king

Its a public holiday today and we woke up late, had an egg and veg sandwich for breakfast. Chris had rice (she was very hubgry, eating for two) . And then while lazing around , she started flipping the paper and oooh.... Beryl's Chocolate factory SALE.
An hour later we bought the chocolates we wanted. Yes , its a true sale. Much cheaper and the expiry dates are 2 years from now. Just manufactured. And its from a dedicated shop so i'm sure its not on sale because some kid or rat fell into the chocolate mix :) early tasting shows so far all ok.
Onthe way we stoped at ioi mall to try out wendy's 1/2 pound burger as shown here. Good but not as good as burger king. Their chicken nuggets are better than McD.
So burger king has got my vote. Besides it reminds me of the good old nights at HP with the gang.

the not so long way round

A monday ride.
since monday was a holiday and i havent riden the versys for a few days , it was time for me to warm up the tyres and charge the battery :)
i left home to carrefour first to get something for chris.
came back , suited up and i was off.
topped up with fresh gas at Sg.Buluh Esso. no i dont pump any other stuff. cause they give crappy points. Exxon mobil has my vote.

so i rode towards Ulu Yam. the roads were quite clean because it rained in the morning or something like that.

so here i was , plodding along uphill and doing about 80kmh and i see this big monkey on the right next to the railing some 500m ahead. hit the horn so that it knows something is coming. and it actually stops. so i continue and swerve to the opposite lane since it was clear and to give a buffer between me and monkey. less than 100m from each other, monkey decides to cross full speed ahead. dropped a gear and gassed the bike and zoomed away. suicidal monkey. no harm done. continue plodding the hills.

i must say, the bike seems to like being in the hills. forget about 6th gear except for those straights, but the gearing is quite good all over the place. and i was quite amazed by the grip offered by the dry dunlops. let me stress here DRY dunlops. they can kill when wet. (read on)

so when i actually reach ulu yam , i get alittle dizzy, lunch time. stopped at this small shop for some noodles and continue through the hills. not too bad except for some cars who would not budge for me to overtake. like i care. once there a clear stretch of road, i give them a quick lesson on power to weight ratios by letting them smell my exhaust fumes. :)
now , now i wasnt doing 130kmh or anything. top speed was about 110kmh on the straights. cornets were <100kmh. i am not too familliar with the roads there and i was not feeling too adventurous.

so anyway , going uphill, its double lanes, so i take the outer one cause the inner one might have deisel or some other killer oils. and taking this left hander , i see a car coming down hill on the other side , suddenly this idiot behind him takes half of my lane. evasive manuvoure needed. no harm done but isnt it abit stupid to overtake downhill on a corner then brake like theres no tommorow?

even the busses could keep in their lanes. ok some took about a foot of the other lane but thats ok cause buses have poor turning circles.

so i reach the genting cable car area... COLD........
with the traffic i saw going downhill, i decided not to go up to the peak but ride down via the highway.

going down.... lets just say that one day, some newbie driver is gonna jam his/her brakes and plunge into the abyss taking a few cars along. the jam their brakes all the way down. and they dont have any respect for the lines on the road. not too good. i just kept a save distance from the cars. but reaching the exit police check point, the fresh air of the hills was gone. all you can smell is BURNT/OVERHEATED brakes.

and then it was the highway.... it poured. quite heavy rain. as noted earlier, the dunlops dont play too well in the wet, so i had to ride very vertical on the twisty areas. and then the ride back home through traffic in the rain :)

not too bad as i approached the zoo, the roads got dry and the weather was still cooling.

enjoyed myself :)

Merdeka!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

me and chris jumped in the car on friday afternoon @ 3:30pm and drove off straight to JB. after unloading the car, we were off to the kuey tiau knia shop.

for those who dont know what it it, its pork innards cooked in a thick broth eaten with rice noodles. i chose to eat the meatish parts instead of the spare parts. also on the menu was some tofu.

Saturday and Sunday was ok. went around JB, slept and ate.

SUnday night we drove back.

note to all travelling south ,
PEOPLE IN NILAI & SEREMBAN DO NOT KNOW HOW TO DRIVE ON HIGHWAYS
80kmh in a 110kmh area!?

we may have achived independence for 51 years, but some people's brains are still dependent on others and cannot think for themselves.

also during that weekend , the 2009 Malaysian budget was announced. we were listening to it on the radio.
what a load of .......
it does not help long term at all. the only good thing that i agree is setting the diesel engine road tax to be the same as petrol engines of similar capacity. toher than that, the budget was just to scratch some surfaces. no impact at all.
