penang laksa the good old fashioned way

Yeap, i'm in penang with chris. She wanted some wan ton soup, had that for dinner. Next ,morning mum and Aunty Ann are busy de-boning fish for the laksa. Mixed with some nice herbs and spices, the mix goes on the firewood stove in the outer kitchen sandbox grill.

the red one is tangy and hot. The yellow one is nice and creamy. Sorry, no photos of the laksa in the bowl. Even this blog has a lower priority when it comes to laksa.

I just got back from penang, wonderful ride in the rain.

a hearty breakfast

Since i am in penang and i could not sleeep ( i miss my wife....:) ) i woke up early, and left with my dad for butterworth.
let dad have a go at the versys on the highway. He was grinning from ear to ear.
I on the other hand nearly wet my pants. Being 6ft 2inches is good for a rider but not for the pillion. I could see over my dad's helmet. Scary. And the torque of the bike is something out of this world.
anyway. We had some steamed dumplings. I had the poridge. Took some extra as take away and some pork buns aka char siew pau for my bb darling in klang. All is cool.

stir fried to perfection

This was for dinner last nite. Took Pauline and chris for dinner. Fired noodles in soy sauce note the smile) , fried rice for chris and stif fried vermiceli (i dont know how to spell it).

Keeping sane.....

i've been asked a few times,
how in the world do i keep my sanity dealing with ever changing data rules and other sort of changes, on a daily basis.

well, i do blow a gasket a few times a year.
but i think the attitude towards the problems are important.

all i need to keep sane are as follows:

We're in the new jusco store in bukit tinggi klang. Quite good compared to hte other places in the klang valley. Ample parking and lots of choice.

a friday to a long weekend

yes, its a holiday on monday. a longer break than normal.
i plan to clear up my store room and burn some fat in the gym. thats priority 2 .
priority 1 is to spend quality time with my bb chris.
on sunday we'd e going to the buddhist temple in jalan gasing.

Sad news

i havent been checking my yahoo mail lately, and suddenly i get a few emails with the same subject,
all from a few of the good people i use to work with in HP.

one of our US team mates had passed away. reported to be MURDERED.
first time i've actually known some1 who got murdered.

I used to chat and joke with Sue and she was quite fond of her horses.
although i havent been in contact with her , she is being missed and remembered on this side of the world. and may she rest in peace.

60 and still ticking

Sunday was Richard's birthday. 60 years of age. He's slightly younger than my mum and dad in penang.
He reminds me alot of them.
On a giant birthday card that every one signed , i wished him happy birthday and said he's 60 on the outside but still 40 on the inside.

Was driving back today. Left office bout seven plus.
they sky was all nice and orange. Much nicer than normal. Chris agrees too. After we passed the bukit raja toll and took the big right bend, everyone began to brake like hell.
Seems like there was an accident. Just hapend, on the left most lane which would join the one i was on , a trailer parken the middle of the road . And furher in front is a woman kneeling down hugging another person. On the right hand lane a van is parked, next to it a MOTORCYLE !
Yamaha lc135. The rider was not moving lying on the road.
Sorry no photos but i just drove by since there were people who stopped to help out. Bless their kind hearts.

Its been years since ive seen an accident of that magnitude. And it got me thinking of the ones ive seen and the ones ive walked away from.
How lucky ive been.

i hope both the rider and the person on the ground are gonna be ok without permenant injuries.

i just wanna say, before i go to sleep, drive/ride safe. We all wanna go home to our loved ones.
Try not to kill anyone and dont get killed.
Think twice before giving it 'the gas'
